(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction is a single-channel video loop consisting of karaoke sing-along text and audio tracks of 50 cover versions of the Rolling Stones song of the same name. The installation prompts / requests viewer participation. Through serial repetition and irony, this work spotlights the global reach of rock music as a phenomenon culturally interpreted and translated into different musical styles and languages. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction brings attention to the similarities and differences of the cover versions, questioning authenticity, originality, and the unattainability of satisfaction.
